Genetic Counselor
Duties and Responsibilities:
Genetic counselors help family members with the type of problem of having a genetic disorder, or they counselor people who may get that. Genetic counselors:
·      Educate the family member and tell them what they can do in order to be comfortable with the certain problem.
·      They look back on your family history to see if there will be a genetic disorder in the family.
·      They try to help the families by letting them understand the things they can do without it affecting their religion.
·      They get information in the problem.
·      They let people know that this problem can happen in their family and to be aware of this happening.
Average Salary:$25,000-$55,000
Educational Requirements:
Students that want to be a genetic counselor someday, they must take a challenging high school course that includes science, and mathematics. A high school diploma must be shown and need to have a strong grade in the subjects of biology, chemistry, and behavior science.
I feel like I would like to be a genetic counselor one day, because I like to help people with their problems and I like to give people advice because I like to feel like if I am changing a person’s life by the tips I give them to help the person.
