Optician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Opticians fit and dispense eyeglasses for the patients, they must look over the prescriptions on the ophthalmologists. They help customers pick out the type of lenses frame, so that they feel comfortable. They measure the distance between the corneas of the eyes so that the lenses may be correctly fitted in the frames.
Average Salary:$19,000-$40,000
Educational Requirements:
Students must take high school courses in the physics, algebra, mechanical drawing, and geometry. A high school diploma is required as well as a GED certificate. The GED certificate of required during training. The training programs have two different types. They have two choices, they can either take a two year program of school of opticianry, or a three year program of job apprenticeship.
Reflection: I would like to have this job because it is just being a doctor for the eye. For example when you help people find the right lenses so they can feel comfortable. You are helping someone out and I like to help people. It makes me feel like I tried my best to make someone happy.
